Instrument Rating

The Instrument Rating is the next big step in becoming a professional pilot. This rating allows you to fly in Inclement weather and will greatly expand your capability as a pilot.

The Process 

What do you need to obtain this certificate?

Requisites

  • Valid Private Pilot Certificate

  • Minimum* 50 Hours of PIC Cross Country Time

  • Minimum* 40 Hours of Simulated Instrument Time

  • Minimum* 15 Hours of Instrument Instruction 

  • Pass The FAA Instrument Written Exam 

  • Pass Your Check-ride With an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner

*Hour requirements are the legal minimum. Most students require slightly more time to become proficient in all of the required areas.
